Who is our care for?

For adults in whom ADHD plays a role. Here you can read when you can come to us, and when other care is a better fit first.

Check

Is our care right for you?

Answer 13 short questions about our criteria. You will see straight away whether our care seems right for you, and if not, what you can best do instead.

  • About one minute
  • Not a diagnosis, but a clear direction
  • Your answers are not saved or sent

Find out in one minute whether we are the right place for you.

First questions about yourself and your symptoms, then a few questions about situations in which other care is needed first.

This check is a tool, not a diagnosis or assessment. We assess whether our care is right for you once we receive the referral. Sometimes this only becomes clear during the assessment.

When an assessment makes sense

Many people sometimes find it hard to concentrate, put off tasks or feel restless. That is part of life and does not necessarily mean that ADHD is involved.

Only when these symptoms have been present for a long time and clearly get in the way of daily functioning can further assessment make sense. Think of problems with attention and concentration, inner restlessness, impulsivity or problems with planning and organising, with consequences for work, study or private life. These symptoms have often been present since childhood.

You can come to us if

  • You are 18 or older
  • You have a permanent place of residence in the Netherlands
  • You have valid health insurance
  • You experience symptoms consistent with ADHD that hinder you in daily life and have been present since childhood
  • You are motivated for both assessment and treatment
  • You have a good command of Dutch or English

When our care is less suitable

Some conditions also affect attention, concentration, planning and restlessness. In that case it is not possible to reliably determine whether ADHD is involved. It is then important that these symptoms are treated or stabilised first. Assessment and treatment with us are less suitable if:
  • There is an active addiction that has not yet been treated or stabilised
  • Another serious psychiatric disorder is in the foreground
  • There are psychotic symptoms
  • There are serious cognitive or intellectual disabilities, so that ADHD diagnostics cannot be carried out properly
  • There is acute suicidality or a crisis situation
  • There is a need for broad psychiatric diagnostics covering several possible conditions

Good to know

  • Not everyone receives the diagnosis

During the assessment, we look broadly at possible explanations. Symptoms can also be related to, for example, stress, low mood, anxiety, trauma or being overstretched. That is why a careful assessment is important.
  • Sometimes it only becomes clear during the assessment

If we see strong indications early in the intake that the symptoms are better explained by another condition, we may end the diagnostics earlier. We always discuss this with you, and we advise on a suitable referral.
  • Already diagnosed before?

In that case you can also come to us for a (re)assessment or treatment. You do need a referral.
  • Under 18?

We focus on adults. For children and young people, we recommend care that specialises in youth.

We do not provide crisis care
